This Dreamy, Creamy Avocado Cilantro Sauce takes just 5 minutes to make and is perfect for tacos, salads, roasted sweet potatoes, or as a dip with chips. Seriously—you’ll want it on everything.

There was a time when I thought guacamole was the only avocado dip I needed. Then I discovered this luxuriously creamy, bright, and ridiculously simple avocado cilantro sauce—and I haven’t looked back. It’s equally delicious and far more versatile than a bowl of guac.
This sauce is one of the easiest recipes I make: low ingredient, fast, and endlessly useful. I use it on tacos, salads, nachos, roasted vegetables, and more. Stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator, it stays fresh for up to five days—though it rarely lasts that long in my kitchen.

HOW TO MAKE DREAMY, CREAMY AVOCADO CILANTRO SAUCE
Gather your ingredients and prepare them before blending. Peel 2 cloves of garlic. Stem, halve, and seed a jalapeño (leave some or all seeds in if you like more heat). Add the garlic and jalapeño to a blender or food processor with ½ cup Greek yogurt, ½ cup cilantro (stems are fine), the juice of 1 lime, the flesh of 1 ripe avocado, and salt to taste.
Blend until smooth and creamy—about five minutes of total prep. That’s it.

THICK OR THIN? DIP OR DRESSING?
For a dip or spread, use the sauce as-is. To thin it into a pourable dressing or sauce, add water a tablespoon at a time while blending until you reach the consistency you want.
VARIATIONS AND SUBSTITUTIONS
Simple recipes invite creativity. If cilantro tastes off to you, substitute half the amount (¼ cup) with fresh parsley or basil for a different but still fresh, herbal result. Greek yogurt can be swapped for sour cream, and buttermilk works well if you prefer a thinner, tangier dressing.
Avoid dried cilantro—this sauce benefits from the bright flavor of fresh herbs.

WAYS TO USE AVOCADO CILANTRO SAUCE
This sauce is extremely versatile. Here are some easy ways to enjoy it:
- Spoon over tacos, enchiladas, or nachos.
- Use it as a dip for quesadillas, chips, sweet potato fries, or vegetables.
- Spread it on sandwiches, wraps, or burgers.
- Drizzle over grilled chicken, shrimp, or fish.
- Toss it with greens as a vibrant salad dressing or mix it into pasta, potato, egg, or chicken salads instead of mayo.
- Finish burrito bowls or grain bowls with a generous drizzle.
