Country Chic Christmas Home Tour That Inspires Holiday Decorating

Step inside for a tour of a country-chic home dressed for Christmas with abundant greenery, red-and-green plaid ribbon, and treasured antiques.

Do you enjoy peeking into other people’s homes at Christmastime?

I do, too.

Our area used to hold a Christmas home tour, and it was such a fun way to see how others styled their homes for the holidays and to gather fresh ideas.

Thankfully, blogs and Instagram still let me wander through beautiful homes and feel inspired.

This year, the stockings are hung and the halls are decked — so let’s take a tour of my country-chic Christmas home.

If you’re new here, I’m Anne and I blog alongside my best friend and across-the-street neighbor, AnnMarie.

This season we partnered with Delaney Hardware and Ryobi Tools to give our front doors a fresh look.

AnnMarie’s updated front door is visible from my porch, and her style leans modern farmhouse — it looks lovely for the holidays.

Although our styles differ, we both favor natural, neutral Christmas decor with lots of greenery.

Ready to start the tour? Let’s begin at the front porch.

Front Porch and Entryway

I have a long front porch that stretches across the entire front of the house — one of my favorite features.

Simple, budget-friendly touches make a porch feel festive: plaid pillows, cozy throws, and a tiered stand with holiday accents create instant curb appeal.

This summer we refinished our Bruce hardwood floors and they’ve become the star of the interior — warm, rich, and inviting.

Front Hallway

The foyer has two focal points: large barn doors my husband built and a gallery wall opposite them.

A custom sign from Between You and Me Signs with the lyrics to O Holy Night hangs above the nativity. Beyond the table is a staircase with garland on the banisters and a family room with a fireplace and Christmas tree.

An antique sewing machine table holds my husband’s vintage nativity — a meaningful display among our collected pieces from childhood and the early days of our marriage.

Game Room

The foyer opens into our game room, an informal space that replaces a formal dining room in our home.

Greens are my go-to for holiday decorating, and you’ll find garlands and clippings woven through this room, even draped across the pool table light for a festive touch.

Family Room

A Christmas tree with custom collar is next to the fireplace and an iron chandelier is decorated with more greenery.

The family room is the heart of the home and the centerpiece of our holiday decorating.

Painting the marble fireplace surround was an affordable transformation that reshaped the room’s look for less than $50.

I enjoy styling the built-ins and mantel each season, but the real focal point is our Christmas tree — filled with meaningful ornaments collected over decades.

This year I added a half wreath above the round mirror to lift the eye and balance the room’s greenery.

Stairway and Hall

Between the family room and the staircase there’s a narrow strip of flooring that leads to the kitchen and bathroom — a transitional space that I treated like a small hall.

I layered boxwood and cedar garlands, tucked in eucalyptus sprigs, and finished the staircase with oversized plaid bows for a cohesive look that repeats the plaid motif found throughout the house.

Kitchen

The kitchen is a work in progress — counters recently arrived and remaining updates will continue after the holidays — but a vintage china cabinet found this spring anchors the room with charm.

Holiday plates and simple tabletop decor will make Christmas day feel special even while the renovation wraps up.

Backyard Patio

Outside the kitchen windows is one of my favorite decorating areas: the patio and gazebo. Even in North Carolina’s mild December evenings, outdoor seating with a portable heater and twinkling lights makes for cozy nights.

I use faux greenery indoors because of allergies, but love combining faux garlands with fresh clippings outside for a natural look. AnnMarie helped me craft layered wreaths for the patio chairs this year.

Laundry Room

Country chic laundry room with peel and stick tile floors is decorated for Christmas. A wreath hangs on the custom wood valance and garland hangs above the green painted cabinets.

This year I finally gave the laundry room a little holiday attention. After a major makeover earlier in the year, it felt right to add country-chic touches like a dried orange and wood-bead garland and simple greenery above the cabinets.

One of the benefits of a neutral, natural holiday palette is that pieces can stay up into January for a cozy winter feel until spring arrives.

If you spotted ideas you like during this tour, keep an eye out for post-holiday sales on decor and start planning your next season’s looks.
