Calling ALL Chocolate Lovers!

If you want a quick, crowd-pleasing Easter dessert, these Cadbury Crème Egg Brownies are a great choice. They pair rich, fudgy brownie batter with the creamy center of Cadbury crème eggs for a nostalgic, indulgent treat that’s simple to make and sure to impress.

Secret Tip for the Best Easter Brownies

For clean slices and a gooey but not overly runny center, freeze five Cadbury crème eggs for about two hours before using. The chilled eggs hold together better when you cut and arrange them on the brownies.

Semi-Homemade Recipe Magic

This recipe keeps things easy: use your favorite boxed brownie mix and follow the package directions. For the batch shown, a milk chocolate brownie mix was used with the required additions (water, oil, and eggs). Whisk the batter until smooth and ready for the pan.

Baking the brownies

Grease a baking pan and pour in the prepared brownie batter. Bake according to the package directions, keeping an eye on timing so you can add the Cadbury halves near the end of baking.

Where the magic happens

Take the frozen Cadbury crème eggs from the freezer and slice each one in half. About five minutes before the brownies finish baking, remove the pan from the oven and gently press the frozen egg halves into the surface of the brownie batter, cut side up or down depending on the look you prefer.

Return the pan to the oven for the final five minutes. The heat will soften the crème eggs just enough to create a gooey, creamy center without completely melting them away.

Cool, Slice and Enjoy!

When baking is complete, remove the brownies from the oven and allow them to cool in the pan for a few minutes so the centers set slightly. Slice into squares and serve while the chocolate and crème centers are still warm and gooey.

Ingredients

  • Box brownie mix (any brand)
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 Cadbury crème eggs (frozen before use)

Instructions

  • Freeze the Cadbury crème eggs for about 2 hours so they are firm for slicing.
  • Prepare the boxed brownie mix according to the package directions.
  • Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and place in the oven. Bake according to package instructions.
  • Remove the frozen Cadbury eggs from the freezer and cut each in half.
  • Take the brownies out of the oven about 5 minutes before the end of the bake time and gently press the frozen egg halves into the batter.
  • Return the pan to the oven and bake for the final 5 minutes to slightly melt the eggs’ centers.
  • Allow the brownies to cool briefly, then slice and serve while the centers are warm and gooey.

Notes

Freezing the Cadbury eggs before adding them prevents the filling from becoming too runny and helps them keep their shape when sliced.
