On the 28th day I finished the tragacanth piece. All the sections I had cut a week earlier were now hard and ready to be sanded. The next step was to assemble the pieces and bond them with royal icing. I had left my pieces white, so I also painted them after they were secured.
I created a set of three gift boxes in different sizes and stacked them. Assembly was a bit challenging because each element needed support while the royal icing set and hardened. Careful positioning and patience ensured the structure stayed stable until fully dry.
After the icing had hardened, I painted each box in a different color to give them individual character and contrast. The paint added depth and brought the assembled piece to life.
This project was enjoyable from start to finish. The sanding and fitting required focus, and painting offered a creative finish. I was very pleased with the final result and the way the stacked gift boxes turned out.
