Where did spring go? It’s April 9th, yet the yard is still dusted with snow and the wind feels more like midwinter than a gentle spring breeze. I enjoy each season for different reasons, but I’m ready for a change. Winter has had its turn, and I’m craving the fresh warmth, longer days, and color that come with spring and summer.
There are parts of every season I like. I’m not a fan of August humidity, but I do love bright sunshine, lush greenery, and blooming flowers. Lately it seems like we skip spring altogether: winter hangs on, then suddenly it’s hot. Spring feels overlooked.
Today, instead of staring out at the gray and cold, I’m heading into the kitchen to make a comforting pot of hot soup — something to warm me while I wait for the real arrival of warmer weather. I’ll share the recipe soon.
While the soup simmers, I’ll daydream about summer: backyard gatherings, sunshine on the deck, and the riot of color in the garden. If you’re stuck in a late-winter spell too, feel free to join me in imagining warmer days.
